Eric Topol, MD, founder and director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute, was honored by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation for his contributions in genomic and digital technologies to transform the practice of medicine.

Topol, who is executive vice president of Scripps Research and a cardiologist, merges genomics and digital medicine with artificial intelligence to tailor medicine to the individual. 

As a physician-researcher, Topol has published over 1,200 peer-reviewed articles, with more than 250,000 citations. In the last seven years he has published three books on the future of medicine, covering digitization, democratization and deep learning.
