The 2019 Tetrahedron Prize for Creativity in Organic Chemistry was awarded to Peter Schultz, PhD, President and CEO of Scripps Research, in recognition of his advances in the fields of chemical biology and drug discovery. 

The award was established in 1980 by Elsevier, which publishes the prestigious Tetrahedron journal series. In announcing the award, Elsevier noted that Schultz developed new methods to expand the genetic code of living organisms and forged technologies that address key problems in chemistry, biology and medicine.
